DCCP status

Hello,

This is a bit off topic but some of this concerns DCCP-TP so bear with me :-)

I've also been reading up on DCCP/TFRC and rate control matters in general and I'd like to know what the general status of the work is currently? I noticed that in the upcoming IETF meeting DCCP WG is meeting but according to the charter most of the work seems to be nearing completion or has been in fact completed. Are there any plans for the work to continue in some other form?

I also subsribed to the vger.kernel.org dccp mailing list, but the activity on that list seems to have died down? The latest TFRC rfc is from last autumn but the latest email on that list is from a year ago. Has the latest TFRC been implemented on DCCP-TP or on regular DCCP?

Best regards,

TomP: Much of the current work is nearing completion. Simultaneous Open is past working group last call and will be heading to IESG review soon. Quickstart has a new version that the author thinks is ready for last call.

Natencap has proven to be controversial. I'm not sure what it's future will be, although a number of people appear to be using it via dccp-tp.

What will happen after these items are cleared is up in air. There are some possible further works items, but we'll have to see what develops at this upcoming meeting.

TomP: I don't know about the vger list. The DCCP list at the IETF (dccp@ietf.org) has light but regular activity. The last message posted was 3-Mar-2009 (yesterday, as I'm writing this).

DCCP-TP did implement the TFRC draft that became RFC 5348. I don't know about any other implementations.
